Final Blog Post!

Dear Future Self,

I want to prepare yourself for the real world out there. I want to teach you new things that nobody has taught you before. For example, being able to stick up for yourself and others, learn from your mistakes and do not repeat them, and lastly never give up on your dreams. I really do believe that not doing those things in the past has really affected the present. I want you to now know to do those things in the near future when you go out into the real world, start a new job, raise a family, and much more.

I had chosen this photo next to this paragraph, because I feel like I really had learned a lot in this course. I still feel like I have many flaws still to work on that we had talked about in this course for example, the use of commas and semi-colons. I feel like I know the basics of using them, but I still need to work on them more. I feel like my writing as gotten way better than before, because I feel like with the personal narrative I was able to express my feelings easily about how my experience of going to that farm really played a huge role on what I wanted to be when I start searching for a career. I am better at writing essays that can express my feelings about my real life experiences verses writing a paper about something that I have zero interest in writing about. I really liked how Dr. Kyburz gave us that opportunity to be able to express something deep that we had gone through. Another situation that we had done in class that I really enjoyed was the Mock Interrogations. I had mentioned in one of my blog posts that I felt that I did not show what I was really capable of doing verses the other group. I will admit that I am more of an introvert, but I feel like I am the type of person who will be very loud and obnoxious to people who I feel more comfortable with. I did really enjoy how Dr. Kyburz attempted to get our class to try and speak out more, but unfortunately I think most of our class was introverts too. Another thing that I had enjoyed doing in this class was writing up police reports. I found it very interesting, and I loved being able to watch the different types of crimes and having to come up with the reports for the crime that our group had chosen. Usually I am not a huge fan of group work, but I feel like the groups that I were in with this course, everyone had contributed the work that they were assigned to. Nobody took over the assignment, and nobody did nothing. We had certain individuals who had taken over as a leader, and the notetaker which was good because that was required and very much needed. We would not be getting anywhere in the project if nobody was willing to step up and take charge. Being in this course this semester I feel is really going to help me prepare for my career as a Fraud Investigator. While learning how to write reports, and using the correct punctuation in my writing, it will help me for when I need to use those skills for writing cases for fraud. I need to take these skills and use them for my benefit for my future self.

Sincerely,
The Present and Past Danielle Voltolina
