The Old Joliet Prison

     The Old Joliet Prison has been a huge attraction to the towns people. At the Old Joliet Prison Mayor Bob O'DeKirk has said it has been a huge problem for the Joliet Police and Fire Department. Why? Because people have been setting the Prison on fire and it has been causing major issues and is putting danger in the town. The Mayor had mentioned that he did not know what to do with the Prison considering it is such a huge attraction for people to go and visit. The Mayor was saying that there was thoughts about demolishing the prison and making it into a quarry, but then there was other thoughts of the Museum giving tours of the Prison.

     It is a shame how people go out of their way to try and destroy a historical landmark. It takes away the situation for other people who may want to go out and actually not destroy the property and just want to visit it. Now when I had driven by they have a cop car parked outside of the Prison keeping guard from people who want to trespass and vandalize it. Not only is that disrespectful, but these people are taking the cops away from a more important type of job.
